You can always plan for anything . . . but sometimes even if you’re prepared . . . the inevitable will happen. . . and something will go wrong. We have seen many things happen here in the bridal suite and in the groom’s lounge. Here is a list of some things to see if your venue has in stock just in case, or make your own Wedding Day Emergency Kit for your bridal party!
Happy 7 year Anniversary to Southern House and Garden and Chad and Sarah Beth Sleeper! SHG opened their doors on October 4th to invite future bride’s in. Sarah and Chad were married the following week on October 11, 2008. Below are the testimonials from Sarah Beth and also clips from her mother’s testimonial on the experience of being our bride and our very first one at that!
“My fiancé and I decided on a short engagement, and looking back, I know we made the right decision! However, at the time, I felt pressed to find a location. We chose an “off weekend” for Alabama football and I knew 25 other brides would choose the same date!!! Every Place in Tuscaloosa was booked. I prayed and prayed for God to make something happen, and one day my sister called and mentioned Southern House and Garden.
It was such an answer to prayer! I have always, since I was a little girl, dreamed of an outdoor wedding on beautiful land with a barn and a house. I could NOT believe that this place just dropped in my lap. Not only is it the picture perfect location, it is Full- Service. At first, this may cause a few brides to hesitate- it can be a little scary not knowing the quality of the florist, in house chef, and overall service in general. However, I took the risk, knowing I didn’t have much of a choice! At the time, it wasn’t even built, but I felt like it was a gift from God to me, so we paid the deposit and secured the date.
I am so, so glad I did!! The food was absolutely the most wonderful wedding food me or any of my friends and family have ever eaten. The florist on staff made the most breath-taking fall arrangements- just like I had pictured in my mind. The grounds were stunningly beautiful, and the house decorated to perfection.
Along the way, I had moments of stress, Angie and her crew encouraged me by saying ‘Don’t let yourself worry. You are going to love it. I promise it will be more than you dreamed it could be.’ Truly it was. I couldn’t recommend a more wonderful place to be married. If I had it all to do over again, I wouldn’t have changed a thing. I was tickled to be the first bride to ever walk that property. There is just something magical about that place” ~ Sarah Beth Sleeper
“We began searching for an appropriate venue and were coming up empty—everyone was already booked for that weekend, and it looked like we were going to have to reschedule my daughter’s wedding. . . After meeting with the ladies of Southern House and Garden we were caught up in their excitement about what they would have to offer and how quickly they could do it. It was obvious that this endeavor was a labor of love for them—the fulfillment of a dream. Although the site was in the early stages of construction at that time, they assured us it would be ready for our daughter’s wedding.
Miraculously and to our great relief, their open house was the weekend before Sara Beth’s wedding. We were overwhelmed with the beautiful décor, the luxurious bride’s room, the floral arrangements and the wonderful food! It was like a bride’s dream come true!
The wedding was beautiful! The ladies went more than the extra mile to make sure everything was very special. The flowers were stunning. We had numerous comments from our guests about the fabulous and there was more than plenty for everyone! . . .
The absolute best thing about it all was that is was so low stress! The ladies found out what we wanted and made it happen. We handled invitations, attire, and photographer. I heartily recommend this venue to anyone who wants an exquisite wedding, professionally presented, with almost no stress!. . . We are honored to have been your first wedding clients—“ ~ Mother of the Bride
